Previous experience and expectations for computing

“Any piece of knowledge I acquire today has a value at this moment exactly proportional to my skill to deal with it. Tomorrow, when I know more, I recall that piece of knowledge and use it better.” –Mark Van Doren

As says the quote, what we have learned helps us developing the skill to tackle it further in future.Choosing computing for my degree was like a surprise to myself, I hardly could prepare for it. But, knowledge never goes wasted whether you learn it or you perform it. The Qbasic, database, computer networking, hardware and software courses though learned little in schooling days has created a mental map as I see the subjects widely related to my 2nd and 3rd year. Being a sincere math performer, I realize the topics match to my 1st year logic module. As every action gives an experience and a lesson, my habit of participating in almost every stage related programs and giving many mass presentation has developed my self confidence and presenting skills which will widely help me in this course.

“You got to visualize what you want to get before you get it”- Shiv Kher.

Visualizing myself 3 yrs ahead, makes me imagine myself as a different character. I expect the course to develop me as a good programmer and a good presenter. I expect to gain not only the theoretical knowledge based on the modules but also the attitude toward problem solving, practical skills, technical information, methods of tackling problems in programming which will help me not only to follow the path of programmers but make a new path my way. Having learned modules like Programming, Operating System, Software engineering, Communication networks, I am quite confident that the course will help me emerge as a good programmer and performer in the field of information technology.
